The TransCharlevoix offers a unique opportunity to spend 3 full days in the heart of the boreal forest, amongst enthusiasts, in a festive and warm atmosphere. The TransCharlevoix is much more than a race. It’s a unique immersive experience that combines the physical endurance of a race over several days, encounters and exclusive discussions.
Day 1: 37 km. 1 600 D+. The departure of the shuttle at 6:00 am from the Maison Chez Laurent (possibility of sleeping on the spot the day before). Start of the race at the Parc National des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie, near the Érables dam near the Draveur Service Center. Start with the first section of 10 km with a wide and rolling stone trail that follows the Malbaie River located in the hollow of this grandiose valley, forged by the erosion of water and ice over millions of years. Continue your run on technical, little-used trails to the summit of La Noyée, with a breathtaking, little-known view of the surrounding mountains and the St. Lawrence River in the distance. Take the time to admire. You won’t come here often! Continue downhill towards the Morios. It’s time to dance in the more technical sections, you’ll be able to celebrate your arrival at the first athletes’ camp in a few kilometres!
Day 2: 36 km. 1 886 D+. Morios at the entrance of the ZEC des Martres. Today, you will do the entire beginning of the legendary UTHC 125 km course, but in reverse. After a magical sunrise on the shores of Lac Boudreault, you’ll warm up on a relatively rolling trail before setting off on the ascent of Les Morios. Walk around the summit, which offers a breathtaking 360° view of the region, before heading back down to the west. The Traversée de Charlevoix trail, technical, strewn with roots, narrow and not often used, will guide you to the next summits of the Lac-à-l’Empêche and Dufour mountains where you will likely come across a few hikers. Finish your day on 4 km of forest roads to the entrance of the Zec des Martres where the team will be waiting for you with a good campfire, a hot meal and everything you need to rest and recuperate for your last day, the next day.
Day 3: 29 km. 1 100 D+. Shuttle for 15 km to the village of St-Urbain. Departure from St-Urbain on the Pointes trail which continues with the Florent trail. You will descend along the Vallée du Gouffre on nice technical trails offering several magical views of Baie-Saint-Paul and the St. Lawrence River in the distance. A final day with less elevation gain (but be careful not to neglect the vertical drop!) that will conclude your adventure at the emblematic site of the Laiterie de Charlevoix where you left your car a few days before. We are waiting for you to celebrate your achievement!
