The Sabie Xperience has always endeavored to present a mountain bike stage race which is within financial reach and ability of the most passionate participants in the sport, whether they be pro riders, amateur racers wanting to win categories and showcase their skills or just recreational riders who want to gain experience riding proper trails in the stunning forests and diverse terrain around the quaint town of Sabie.
Sabie Xperience offers 3 distances:
- Sabie Xperience Challenge
- Sabie Xperience Lite
- Sabie Xperience XLite
Sabie Xperience Challenge (165km and 3,830m ascent)
Stage Breakdown:
Day 1: 65km | 1,250m elevation
Day 2: 65km | 1,800m elevation
Day 3: 35km | 780m elevation
Solo and Team participants ride the same demanding course offering a true test of endurance, skill, and mental strength for mountain bikers ready to push themselves over 165km of rugged terrain around Sabie, Mpumalanga.
This race is designed exclusively for solo riders, competing in two categories: Men and Women. While there is no prize money for this category, it promises a rewarding experience filled with challenge, camaraderie, and the stunning natural beauty of the region.

Sabie Xperience Lite (120km and 2,250m ascent)
Stage Breakdown:
Day 1: 43km | 800m elevation gain
Day 2: 45km | 850m elevation gain
Day 3: 32km | 600m elevation gain
Whether you’re new to stage racing or looking for a more manageable challenge, the SabieX Lite offers 3 days of rewarding riding through the scenic forests and mountains of Sabie, Mpumalanga. This event combines adventure, affordability, and personal accomplishment — all within a fun and supportive race atmosphere.
SabieX Lite is perfect for those who want to experience mountain biking at their own pace, with well-marked trails, friendly crew, and a route that’s challenging enough to be exciting, but achievable enough to finish with a smile.

The Sabie Xperience Team XLite is the newest addition to the Sabie Xperience family.
Designed for riders looking for a shorter, more accessible stage race, Team XLite delivers three unforgettable days of mountain biking through the spectacular forests and trails of Sabie.
With reduced daily distances and less technical riding, Team XLite is ideal for Youth riders (13 years and older), riders entering their first stage race, and anyone who prefers a more enjoyable riding experience without sacrificing the adventure that makes Sabie Xperience so special.
Ride as a two-person team or take on the challenge solo while enjoying the same outstanding organisation, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful scenery that have made Sabie Xperience one of South Africa’s favourite mountain bike stage races.

From the inaugural event in 2004, our main goal was always to offer an enjoyable but challenging MTB Stage Race over a few days, together with the Sabie Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, benefitting local hospitality and accommodation establishments, retail businesses, charities and communities while attracting many visitors to the town in the intention that they will return sometime in the future.
It is also your prerogative either to go big and enjoy hotel accommodation, food, massages and luxuries, bring the family down to a B&B, self-catering establishment or if you are into the outdoors, camp at one of your favourite resorts along the river. You will be rewarded with their appreciation, support, and special TLC and hot water pools for cyclists to relax in after a hard day out on the trails!
