Sahara Epicos

Sahara Epicos

Sahara Gravel is a stage race that carries riders from the foothills of the Atlas Mountains into the heart of Morocco’s Sahara Desert — one of the most dramatic point-to-point routes in gravel racing. The route runs largely on gravel roads and easy singletrack, giving riders a genuine off-road test without excessive technical difficulty.

The race begins with transport from Marrakesh to Ouarzazate — famous as a Hollywood filming backdrop — where riders shake out their legs before the opening stage launches into the Atlas foothills on fast, flowing gravel. The following stage pushes into the rugged Anti-Atlas, weaving through dramatic rock formations and jagged cliffs, with evenings rewarded by slow-cooked tagine under the stars. Later stages transition from rock to open plain as the Sahara’s edge comes into view, before the race delivers its emotional high point: a finish through the dunes, with some of the clearest night skies riders will ever see.

Accommodation mixes comfort and adventure — hotel stays for the mountain stages, then authentic Nomad camps with real beds and bathrooms once the desert begins. Riders can enter solo or as a pair, and the event includes full timing, a live tracker, feed zones, medical support, and daily luggage transfers, so the focus stays purely on riding.

This is a race built for a wide range of ambitions — serious enough for competitive gravel racers chasing overall standings, yet approachable for anyone comfortable riding multiple consecutive days on loose surfaces. Whether racing for position or simply racing the sunset into the dunes, Sahara Gravel delivers one of the most complete desert cycling experiences on the calendar.
