Rat Race: City to Sea
The Keys have long been a playground for those who seek the sea – a stunning island chain stretching from the incredible Miami skyline all the way to the southernmost point of the continental United States, Key West.
The Rat Race: City to Sea will take you through shallow waters, mangrove scenery and narrow channels between islands, you’ll be heading to make land at Key Largo, where you transition to road bikes. From there, 100 miles of smooth tarmac lies ahead of the famous Overseas Highway, before you switch to sneakers for the final half marathon run into Key West. That’s the end of your journey, the end of the road and the end of the continental United States. It’s time to enjoy some sundowners and party like only Key West knows how…
This 150-mile/240km (33 in kayaks, 104 by bike, 13 on foot), one-way journey along the entire island chain of the Florida Keys from Miami to Key West will be taken over 2 days. The kayaking stage includes unique ‘floating pit stops’ and historic Stiltsville, with open-water kayaking among pristine uninhabited and undeveloped Keys, and mangrove swamps. The event is fully supported with pit stops (feed stations), logistic support, bike mechanics, and kayak safety. Ends at the finish party in Key West, the party capital of America with additional transfer options to get you and your gear back to Miami after the event.
