If you want a race like no other then The Quetzal Challenge is for you! Guatemala is a country of diverse landscapes. You will be riding through the tropical rainforest of the northeast which is home to some of the most important archaeological sites of the Mayan culture.
The Quetzal Challenge is a mountain bike endurance race where each athlete will put all their skills to the maximum. It is run in teams of two people or individually, each team or participant must go through each PC (control post) together and within the stipulated time limit, otherwise, the team will be eliminated from the official ranking, although they may continue in the race, they just will not appear in the official list.
The earliest Maya settlements date back to around 1800 B.C. or the beginning of what is called the Preclassic or Formative Period. The earliest Maya were an integral part of early agriculture, growing crops such as corn (maize), beans, squash and cassava.
