Oman Desert Marathon
Every year, approximately 100 runners from 15 different countries gather to participate in a unique adventure in the breathtaking wilderness of the Oman Desert. The Oman Desert Marathon is a race covering 165 km, requiring each runner to be completely self-sufficient.
The runners will embody the essence and essential part of a real “desert experience”. This vast expanse of awe-inspiring beauty and fantasy will present a physical, emotional and spiritual experience of a lifetime. The course will start from the Alwasil Oasis of Bidiyah and finish on the shore of the Arabian Sea.
Starting from the Oasis of Alwasil and finishing at Al Jawharat Resort in Bediyah. Five stages of 42 km, 32 km, 40 km, 30 km and, 21 km. Five different perspectives of one of the most beautiful deserts of the world. A unique journey to discover the most remote, untouched sands and the highest dunes of the Omani Desert while on the tracks of the ancient caravans. The five stages of the race will take the runners through an expanse made up of astonishing shapes and sizes of sand dunes, palm groves, hamlets, and villages. Runners will pass semi-nomadic tribes who still follow the Silk Route through the Oman Desert, as well as wildlife and stunning sunsets, and finishing the race with an explosion of emotion when they arrive at the shores of the Arabian Sea. Awe-struck runners will be inspired by the silence, solitude, and mysticism of the desert, illuminated only by the twinkling of millions of stars.
