NOMAD Senegal. January 20 – 24, 2024.
Senegal | 200 km | 5 Days.
Sine Saloum region
The start of the NOMAD 2024 will take place near the town of Sokone, in the heart of the Sine Saloum region in Senegal.
For the first two stages, we will discover typical landscapes of the African bush and the runners will appreciate the many villages. We will then reach the bed of the Koular Bôlon River before continuing our journey along the Gambian border. During the last stage, we will cross the Fathala forest located at the gates of the Saloum Delta National Park to reach the pretty village of Missirah and its giant old Ceiba tree.
The last kilometres of our route will be on a beautiful track where it is not uncommon to see little monkeys. The finish line of NOMAD 2024 will be held in Toubacouta, a small village nestled on the edge of a bolong.
200 km through the African bush
The second edition of the NOMAD is an ultramarathon of 200 km in 5 days with self-supported conditions, which takes place in the region of Sine Saloum in Senegal, in West Africa.
Competitors must follow a marked route daily. Mandatory checkpoints will be distributed along the route to monitor the good progress of the competitors. These identified crossing points also make it possible to supply the runners with water.
Each participant must carry their mandatory equipment, their personal belongings for the race and their food. In January the temperatures in the region oscillate between 15 and 35 °C degrees.
