Mt Kenya Epik: Mt. Kenya MTB Tour 2023 has been postponed to 2024 (date TBA).
Created by two of the very best Kenyan Athletes; long-distance runner Douglas Wakiihuri and cyclist David Kinja; that will transverse the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Riders in all of the Mt Kenya MTB events are expected to compete in teams of two to ensure they take care of each other on each leg of the stage race which varies between 80 and 120 km per day. Riding in twos is also integral to team tactics. To qualify for a finish, paired teams have to stay together for the duration of the race and must cross the line within two minutes of each other.
Times taken to finish each stage of the race are aggregated to determine the overall winning team in each category at the end of the race. Winners of each stage will be recognised at the end of each day during the briefing for the following day’s activities.
The two-day stage race will be preceded by a prologue starting and finishing at Naro Moru River Lodge at 2.30 pm. Entry into the prologue is possible as a stand-alone entry.
