Explore the legendary landscape of the Westhoek with the Flanders Fields Gravel Tour, a premier multi-day event that blends gruelling physical challenge with deep historical significance. This isn’t just a race; it’s a journey through the “Silent Witnesses” of the Great War, following the tracks of cycling legends across the iconic terrain of West Flanders and Northern France.
The Course Highlights:
- Gravel & History: Ride through the heart of the Ypres Salient, traversing unpaved railway beds and forest tracks in the Gasthuisbossen and Palingbeek. Pass by world-renowned landmarks such as Tyne Cot Cemetery and Passchendaele, where the landscape still bears the scars of 1917.
- The “Hell” of the North: Test your resilience on the ruthless cobbled sectors of Northern France. You’ll tackle legendary segments made famous by the Spring Classics—including Mons-en-Pévèle and the Carrefour de l’Arbre—before making a stop at the iconic Roubaix Velodrome.
- Hills & “Plugstreets”: Face the steep, unpaved climbs of the Heuvelland. The route takes you up the double ascent of the Kemmelberg (including the off-road variant) and flirts with the French border over the Mont Noirand Mont des Cats. You’ll also navigate the famous “Plugstreets”—the historic gravel strips of Gent-Wevelgem.
