São Tomé – The Hemisphere Crossing [Global Limits]

São Tomé Stage Race – The Hemisphere Crossing is a unique challenge to run through the archipelago, crossing cocoa and coffee plantations, witnessing the island’s unusual histories, and camping on idyllic beaches where five species of marine turtles still lay their eggs when in season.

The islands of São Tomé and Príncipe in the Gulf of Guinea offer a glimpse into forgotten plantations, elegantly built colonial houses, the spectacular tubular Pico Cão Grande, colourful natural beauty in the jungle, and unspoiled beaches.

Of course, the race finishes at the Equator Line – São Tomé is the closest country on earth to the coordinates 0°N 0°E – where the equator crosses the 0° meridian.

The event starts on Friday, 17th February 2023 and finishes on Saturday, 25th February 2023.  All runners meet in the designated hotel in São Tomé. All participants will be picked up from São Tomé International Airport, before being shuttled to the designated hotel.

The Award Ceremony for the São Tomé Stage Race includes a buffet-style dinner and will take place in the only hotel on the island Ilheu das Rolas on Friday, 24th February. One night of accommodation with full board in the same hotel is included in the race package.

On Saturday, 25th February, participants may either leave on their own, stay for an extension program (see recommended offers) or choose the complimentary transportation option to São Tomé International Airport.
