Glacier Waterberg Traverse

Glacier Waterberg Traverse

The Glacier Waterberg Traverse is a three-day mountain bike stage race set in the stunning bushveld of the Waterberg Biosphere. This event offers riders a unique opportunity to explore the rugged terrain of the Summerplace Game Reserve in Limpopo, just 2.5 hours from Johannesburg.

Participants can choose between two race categories:

The Ride: 111 km over three stages, suitable for riders seeking a challenging yet non-competitive experience.
The Race: 188 km over three stages, designed for more competitive cyclists aiming to test their endurance and skills.

The event is open to traditional mountain bikes as well as e-bikes, accommodating a wide range of participants. Each stage features meticulously designed routes that traverse diverse landscapes, including singletrack trails, gravel roads, and scenic bushveld vistas. Wildlife encounters are a highlight, with sightings of species such as Roan Antelope and Tsessebe enhancing the experience.

Accommodations are available at Summerplace Game Reserve, providing riders with a comfortable base to relax and rejuvenate between stages. The event fosters a non-competitive atmosphere, encouraging participants to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow cyclists and the natural beauty of the Waterberg region.
