Craft BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma 2015

Bike Transalp

The BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma is one of the most popular mountain bike stage races in the world. Frequently copied but never equalled since its inaugural edition, the iconic event has quickly become a myth in the scene – thanks to a jaw dropping scenery, amazing single trails as well as tons of climbing only the Alps can offer.

Race organisers have put together a route which is once again the perfect mix of adventure and mountain bike romantic in a stunning scenery with the route leading in seven stages over 503km and 18,185 metres of climbing from Mayrhofen via Brixen, St. Vigil, St. Christina, Kaltern, Trento and Lavarone to Riva del Garda

Race reviews

It would be silly to try to compress an adventure of seven days in the Alps in a few lines.
Otherwise it would take me very long to get this report written.
So an in between will do.

7 days of racing through the Alps, from Ruhpolding in Germany to Riva in Italy.
611km's, 19000hm and an average temperature of 30-35°C.

The Craft Bike Transalp is one of the toughest mountain bike marathon stage races in the world. This year, Australians Mike Blewitt and Imogen Smith represented the Subaru-MarathonMTB.com team in the competitive mixed category, racing from Mittenwald in southern Germany to Riva Del Garda in Italy. Eight days, 1,200 riders, over 680 kilometres in length, with 20,000 metres of climbing. Here's how their race unfolded...

So, Stefan is riding the Craft Bike Transalp offroad race – the most impressive mountain bike stage race of the world! Stefan being Stefan however, he is not on a MTB… he’s the only one doing the whole thing on a cyclocross-bike!!

The Craft Bike Transalp covers 600 kilometers and more than 18.000 altitude meters. There’s 1200 mountainbikers competing to overcome seven daily stages. The race started yesterday in Oberammergau in Bavaria and they will cycle through the breathtaking Alpine landscapes to Riva del Garda at the beautiful Lake Garda.
