Azores Triangle Adventure

Tasting Trail in stages, the triangle with 100 km

Azores Triangle Adventure will take place on 7, 8 and 9 October, will feature three stages in three days and cover the tracks of the most emblematic landscapes of Faial, Pico and São Jorge, a total of over 100 kilometers and with a positive gap equivalent to rise Everest. The first step, Trail vineyard mountain, will be held in 7 days on the island of Pico takes us on a journey of about 30 km, from sea level to the highest point of Portugal, Pico Mountain, with 2351m of altitude. The trail got its start in Lajido the Old Creation, the heart of the landscape of Culture of the Pico Island Vineyard, classified in 2004 as World Heritage by UNESCO. The Trail of fajãs, held on the 8th, on the island of São Jorge, allow direct contact with the Fajãs elements that give uniqueness and particularity the coastline of St. George, characterized by being small flat land flaps fitted between the mountains and the sea, resulting from the slope collapse or cooling lava from an eruption. About 45 km, starts at the oldest volcanic complex of the island the top, where the cultivation of vines in corrals is abundant, covering then some of the southern coast coves where cultivated yams, bananas and coffee . The final stage will take place at Faial, on 9 October, and will visit the island of Faial the east coast to the west coast with an approximate length of 45 km, connecting the oldest part of Faial Island with 800,000 years starting in the volcanic complex river, passes through the intermediate formation of the island, the volcanic complex of Cedros which is part of the main volcano of the island, Caldeira and highest point of Faial, ending the latest territory of the island and of the country, the volcano integrated Capelinhos in volcanic complex resulting Capelo of the 1957/58 eruption. Takes us to the age of the formation of the island, passing volcanic cones, craters, caves and grottos, mysterious locations and characteristic of the beautiful Azores volcanic landscapes, ending the youngest Portuguese territory. This project represents an asset for the Azores, mainly on the strategy of a region that is intended to be a reference in the active tourism sector nature.
